Yesterday our homeschool group had a Halloween party. We held it at a local park, and it was a bit chilly, but so much fun. Everyone contributed, we made some Halloween snacks and boxes that had eye balls (peeled grapes), guts (pumpkin insides), bat wings (fruit leather), and brains (spaghetti) for the kids to feel and be grossed out before we told them what was really in the boxes. There were games for the kids to play, crafts for them to do, and so much amazing food. We had hot chili, corn muffins, chips and guacamole, salsa and hummus, hot coffee and hot cider, and an amazing gluten free/vegan dessert spread made by one awesome mama. The kids ran around for hours with each other and moms and dads chatted and drank coffee. Everyone was darling in their costumes. It was so much fun. I'm always so thankful for this wonderful group of people with whom we share community, friendship, support, ideas, and of course, parties. My kids have never lacked friends, amazing learning opportunities, field trips, classes, and parties because of this group of fellow home school families. It's a very good thing in our lives that we are thankful for.
