My Beautiful Girls

Penelope took this picture.

And this.

And this.

And this.

Of course I think they are beautiful, always. But sometimes I see a photo I took of one of them and it takes my breath away. You could just get lost in Penelope's eyes if you are not careful, and the way sunbeams shine right out from Violet's face when she is really happy and smiling. I love the way they look in these photos. All stripes and wild hair and hand me down sweaters from a cousin and a fairy crown of leaves. Outside being free and wild. They are perfect just now, at three and six. My beautiful, wild babies.

Happy Girl

Funniest picture ever.

Such a fun Halloween this year. Lots of fun at the walkabout with family. I got to cuddle a very sweet baby girl, and Pen and Vi loved having their cousins here.

I made the girls costumes and learned a lot doing it. How to put in a zipper, how to make my own pattern. They were very happy with them too.

We had perfect trick or treating weather, and it was lots of fun walking around our neighborhood together.

Yesterday our homeschool group had a Halloween party. We held it at a local park, and it was a bit chilly, but so much fun. Everyone contributed, we made some Halloween snacks and boxes that had eye balls (peeled grapes), guts (pumpkin insides), bat wings (fruit leather), and brains (spaghetti) for the kids to feel and be grossed out before we told them what was really in the boxes. There were games for the kids to play, crafts for them to do, and so much amazing food. We had hot chili, corn muffins, chips and guacamole, salsa and hummus, hot coffee and hot cider, and an amazing gluten free/vegan dessert spread made by one awesome mama. The kids ran around for hours with each other and moms and dads chatted and drank coffee. Everyone was darling in their costumes. It was so much fun. I'm always so thankful for this wonderful group of people with whom we share community, friendship, support, ideas, and of course, parties. My kids have never lacked friends, amazing learning opportunities, field trips, classes, and parties because of this group of fellow home school families. It's a very good thing in our lives that we are thankful for.
