A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Just some pictures of summer so far. We have stuck very close to home this year. Most of the photos are right here in town. We have spent lots of time at the library, escaping the heat and taking advantage of the wonderful summer reading program we have here, loving the free presentations and crafts and taking home great prizes. We have had lots of swimming at our own little beach, lots of days playing at the park, and long evenings with friends at the playground when it has been cool enough to play! And also much time spent at a friend's amazing garden, eating watermelon and popsicles, picking her raspberries and being blown away by her humming birds. Kind of a slow and gentle summer. Which I'm realizing is just fine with me. More time to just be with each other, to just be here now.

Three

My sweet Violet is three. Hard for me to believe this is true. We celebrated her day quietly. She had her home made pizza and her chocolate cake with yellow frosting and sprinkles on top. She wore her special birthday party dress that used to be Pen's. She got her very own jewelry box, which she has asked for for more than a year. Her dear big sister gave her a stuffed cat that she sewed herself over many nap times. A few stitches here, several there, all while Violet napped. Penelope was very excited to give it to Vi, and Vi loved it. I love this little person so very much. I wish she wouldn't grow up quite so fast, wish we could just linger here at the beginning of three a little longer, and I love her so very much.
