One of the mothers in our homeschool group had a fun idea for us over the summer. There will be four artists over the summer that we can teach our kids a bit about, and then have them do a piece of art inspired by the artist. Then we will post photos of their art so all the kids can see what everyone did and in the fall we'll have an art show. The first artist was Georgia O'Keeffe. The girls and I looked at lots of her art and read about her online, then we went to a friend's house and brought our supplies to share. One other mom and kid joined us too, and the kids had lots of fun. We actually have a pretty good group of kids who homeschool here in town, and the kids are all between 2 and 7. We have been getting together regularly for playground time and playdates. Not all the kids came for this art project, but there were five kids, which was just about perfect. It was a perfect way to spend the rainy day we woke up to. The kids painted for a pretty long time, shared snacks, and played after. The moms drank tea and chatted while adoring the newest little one, only six weeks old. As soon as we get our next artist to learn about and explore I'll share what we end up doing.

  1. I have to say I LOVE Violet's piece. I think she has absolutely captured the feeling of O'Keefe's art.
