Happy New Year 2012

Violet Toasting the New Year with Toast

This week we got back to some of our regular things, like Toe Jam Puppet Band on Mondays (where the children had a New Year's toast - with toast!) and story time at the library. But Steve is here for most of the month and we are still a bit in let's do fun things mode.

This week I have been enjoying sleeping in just a little bit, having help from Steve around the house, painting "like Eric Carle does" as well as reading as many Eric Carl books as we can get our hands on in preparation for a trip to the Eric Carle museum sometime this month before Steve goes back to school, walks by myself every day, learning new ways to make salads and fresh greens, evening marathon viewing of Downton Abby after the girls are in bed in preparation for the new season, the tree with it's lights and decorations (for just one more week), listening to the new Dan Zanes c.d. as often as Violet requests it - which is often, hearing Penelope sing Let's Go Fly a Kite from Mary Poppins constantly in her sweet, high voice (I can't get enough of it - it makes me smile every day), the moon growing fuller and brighter each night, and the red amarillis opening ever so slowly on my kitchen counter.

I think it has been a good first week of the new year. Happy 2012!
